Duplicate an action

Copying an action and editing it can give you a great head start on creating a new action. It’s particularly useful if you want to create variants of the same action for split testing or for different audience segments.

In the ‘Manage content’ list, click the ‘down arrow’ next to the ‘Edit’ button on the item you wish to copy and click ‘Duplicate’.

You’ll be asked to confirm that you want to create a duplicate.

Click 'Duplicate' and your new clone action will then appear at the top of the content list. It will have the same Internal page title as the source item, but with [DUPLICATE] at the front, but will have its own node number and a new url based on the page title, which you can of course edit.

If you’re making multiple duplicates, it’s a good idea to rename them straight away to help you keep track.

If you’re creating multiple versions of an action, remember you can link the social proof counter so that it displays a total gathered from the different versions. See the section on Counter source in this article.

The duplicate will be a complete copy of the landing page content, form configuration, thank you page and email configuration (thank you emails, notification emails etc).

It will only duplicate the specific node - if your action has translations you’ll need to duplicate the translations one by one.

Duplicate vs action template

Action templates in Impact Stack define the form configuration and email set up for a new content item, but leave the content sections empty. As well as setting up the defaults for each content type so that they work the way you want (eg with your chosen opt in configuration), you can create additional action templates for action types you create regularly, eg free report download or event sign up.
